Dear all,

A customer of my want's to rearrange the cost centers that have defined as a Code part value

Adding new ones isn't an issue

Removing issue isn't an option. So want set an end date for invalid code part values.

Some Code part values must be changed

My idea was this

Set and end date and create a new line with a start date.

That is not aloud

Some a idea how to solve this?

Hi,

You can simply change the description.  Descriptions are not retained in GL / Other so changing the description will affect reporting current / go forward but also if you re-run an old report.

If you need a concept of “old” description / “new” description you can create an attribute connected to the cost center where an attribute would be old description. The old description would have an attribute value with a description of the old value you wish to  keep.   Other options can exist to allow for old / new reporting.

AS noted, you can set new values to be starting in the future, you can set old values that are expired and no longer used. You can’t create two records with the same ID with different date ranges.

The date range you specified is for the value - cost center 1100 that value can’t be deleted as it was probably used, and you can’t create a new record with the same value.   Similar to most other tables where you can’t change a key field such as customer ID, part number, account number etc.

Options exist for reporting.

Hope this helps,

Best regards,

Thomas
