Hi,

Looking for some advice to see what’s possible with this scenario.

I have a resource ‘x’ working 8hrs. The have a van and can travel to jobs within a 60 mins max travel.

I also have a second resource ‘y’ working 8hrs, but they don’t travel as customers bring their vehicles to one of our locations.

I want to be able to set up the resource ‘x’ to say for the first 4hrs of the shift they have a max travel of 0 mins then the second 4hrs to be back to 60 mins.

This will then enable resource ‘x’ to assist in a Service Centre for the morning, and then go mobile in the afternoon with PSO taking him back home.

There’s other scenarios where we may use this also, i.e. the Vans in for repair or service. So I have looked at Vehicle setup in ARP, but that appears to be around capacity and / or travel based on range.

I have thought about lowering the cost/ph and increasing the cost/km during the shift so it encourages Base work, but that would still allow travelling for the first 4 hours when we don’t want them to.

Is anyone doing something similar to the above, or worked on a project where something similar has been implemented.

Regards

Can you create 2 shifts with 4 hours each and set max_travel to zero for the first shift?

@Alexander Heinze - that was one idea that I had, and would obviously need to test it. Just wondering if there was other options within the one shift.

You could also use different activity types for depot vs. onsite work and then define availabilities so that your resource is only available for onsite activities in the afternoon. The options depend on your upstream system and whether it can support them. With IFS Cloud I think both should work (and with a custom one you are flexible anyway).

@Alexander Heinze we’re using FSM.

The tasks / activities could be the same and the location is usually determined at the point of scheduling.

I am using a skill to determine if the task is for Base / OnSite, and allocating the skill availability. But i’m still aware during that period the technician is still able to travel.

Is there anything at Vehicle level to say the vehicle is ‘off road’ for period x to y?
