Hi Experts,
I am encountering an issue with the macro functionalities in Excel, as they do not appear to be working as expected. Specifically, the requirement is to retrieve the Source values from IFS and populate them in the designated cells within Excel.
Kindly refer the attached document “Steps for Macro with Word and Macro with Excel.docx”
I was able to follow this functionality precisely within Word, and it is working as expected. The steps I followed included creating a document revision and applying the document class with the Word macro. Then selected 'Edit' button. Upon opening the document, navigated to 'Quick Parts' > 'Field' > 'DocProperty', and chose a field with a value to be automatically fetched from the IFS server.
In Excel, as the 'Quick Issue' functionality is unavailable, an alternative approach was employed to automatically retrieve the field values. The process involved navigating to File > Info > Properties > Advanced Properties > Custom tab to achieve the intended result. (Kindly refer the attached document “Steps for Macro with Word and Macro with Excel.docx”)
However, as the approach used in Excel was not effective to achieve the intended outcome, I would like to kindly request your insights on the following:
-
We were unable to locate a 'Quick Parts' field in Excel, similar to the one available in Word. Could you please confirm if such a field exists in Excel, allowing us to proceed as we do in Word?
-
If you are aware of any procedure that would allow us to achieve the desired output in Excel, we would be grateful if you could share it.
-
If there are no answers for the above two points: The macro scripts appear to be functioning correctly, as values and properties are being successfully retrieved from IFS to Excel. However, the specific linkage between the IFS values and the designated cells in Excel seems to be missing. If there are no issues with the procedure followed in Excel, could you advise on the best way forward to resolve this issue? Specifically, do you believe this might be related to a macro script bug (but we believe that there is no issue with macro scripts), or could it be an Excel-specific issue?
Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciate
Application: IFS APP10 IEE (UPD25) (issue appears to be available in other versions as well)
Thank you!
