Hi All,

My client has a requirement to perform the following from the IFS application:

  1. Send a document to an external customer.
  2. Support the customer and IFS user making markups to the document (redlining)
  3. Approving/Rejecting the markups to the document
  4. Electronic signoff of the document

Does IFS have this capability?

Hi Julian,

Thanks for asking here.

The short answer is No, we cannot do that.

The longer answer is that we had/have a simple redlining/comment file functionality in IFS Apps 10 and earlier, but this has not been brought into IFS Cloud, and we don't plan to do it either. So that's that. And even if Apps 10 is used, and we can do redlining/commenting there, it's limited to checking in and checking out the redline files and we also rely on only one redlining tool.

What you describe sounds like a mix of redlining and document transmittals. Have you looked at the later?

Also, "electronic signoff" will mean different things to different people, so I cannot say if we have what you ask for or not. Is it as simple as approving a document, or approving an approval step connected to the document, or is it about digital or electronic signatures?

To sum up: With some flexibility and creativity you might be able to get the process to work, but you need to have a much better understanding of IFS Document Management than I think you have right now. But, again, some parts might be missing, entirely or part of them (hence the need for flexibility).

Thanks for the response, Mathias!
