Url Link or shared database link on media for procurement catalog
Hi everyone,
My client is using the Self-service Procurement catalog and would like images added on the master part to be reflected on the catalog.
It works when media is imported directly on IFS database. However, they also need the image to be on the catalog by adding an url link or a link to their shared database on the media of the master part. Is it possible or not?
Best regards,
Laura

Hello Laura,
We have exactly the same requirements for one of our customers. Did you find any solution to this request for your project?
It would be quite helpful if you can share.
Thanks in advance!

Hi @BeaLauraA
Yes. Url is not supported from our part catalog, but if we hosted supplier catalog then we can enter image Url. Please refer Hosted Supplier Catalog → Product Lines.

Regarding Hosted supplier Catalog
I'm trying to use this url-function at a customer but I don't really understand it. Is the url supposed to be fetch at the time the page is loaded, or is it preloaded at the backend and stored somewhere?
I have a url which works from my pc, i.e. if I put the url in the web browser the picture is shown. But when the same url is added to the product of the Hosted supplier Catalog, it will not be loaded, no picture is shown:
Data below is just test data from a test system. Url is from a official page on Internet.
Hi @Frbese,
Copy and paste the url in normal browser prompt and then make sure it is visible. Then it should visible here as well.

Piyal

Ok, Thanks. Do you know how it is implemented? Is the url (the picture) fetched from my browser or is fetch before by the backend when the page is requested?
Imagine having like 30 objects on a page which needs 30 calls to different sources (urls). I would guess the page would be shown and the pictures was then loaded. Or, is the calls done from the backbone, fetching all the pictures and then sent to the client (user)
It is also interesting because above is depended to set up the correct settings. If the client is loading the pics, the user needs access to the urls. Or, if the backbone does it, the app server needs access to the urls.
Hi @Frbese ,
Will talk to our product architect in this area and will reply.

Hi @Frbese ,
I discussed your reply with our architect. He said that we are using the FW image viewer to load image url. So, only framework knows the background sequence of the image viewer. If possible, please raise your issue with the relevant framework group.

Another issue on in the subject “Hosted supplier Catalog”, I cannot get the detail image view to show my pics. The pic is visible in the overview, card view but not when I go to “Details”:
Looking into the code, I can see that some code are commented here. Is this a limitation in current version 24.2.3, look at code snippet below:
I suppose this image-viewer should be able to show a media item if that is connected to part and if the part is Hosted Supplier Catalog item, from the defined url.
At the moment I cannot get either working (not a media item nor an url image) :
