Using IFS Cloud/Aurena 22.1.5.2022...

I have a client that has a customized ERP where one inventory part number connects to many supplier part numbers. This allows for multiple size containers (truckload tankers, totes, cylinders, drums, etc.) from the supplier to be connected to one inventory part number for the client. It reduces the product structure overhead and reporting time on inventory part usage.

They can choose the internal inventory part number for the PO and then select the suppliers part number based on container/pack size.

Has anyone worked on a customization/modification to allow this in IFS?

Hi,

No experience on such customization here, but..

IFS supports something similar with ‘Input UOM groups’. Input UOM group is attached at part level that holds multiple other UOMs that can be used to buy or sell the part in. However, there are no additional part numbers or part number conversions defined and not selecting the supplier part no based on the conversions.

For example:

your inventory UOM is pcs, and you have a input UOM group that defines the containers Box of 100 and Box of 1000.

Your manually created PO line will be for the standard inventory part no but at receipt, you can define which container is sent by the supplier, and this is used to calculate the no of received inventory parts.

If your parts are GTIN handled, on top of the input UOMs, IFS allows to define and work with GTIN14s, which are container specific identification numbers.

This solution cannot be used independently for purchasing only though(older post

)

If you are looking to have support customer’s current ERP function using IFS, I think you will be looking at extended solution for Input UOM + GTIN14 made for purchasing.

Hope this helps,

Asanka
