As per the current setup, when there is a part demand added in the system, the MRP calculates back from the requirement date and the purchase lead time for the part, and creates the purchase requisition on this day.

While this is regular practice, we need to be able to add an “offset” so that the MRP creates those requisitions earlier, and the parts can be delivered earlier for the relevant execution teams to have time to evaluate readiness and prepare accordingly.

Is there a field where such an offset can be added across all parts?

We rather not change the individual lead times since this would muddy the data hygiene and not align with actual supplier lead times. Not to mention the subsequent requirement to continue butchering future parts’ lead times.

Safety Lead Time can be used for this purpose. It will order the part so that it is planned to arrive X number of days before it is required.

Hi,

You can use the Safety Lead Time for this

I hope this helps!

@frederick.benny you could setup this ‘offset’ at Site level as Picking Leadtime. This is also considered by MRP when calculating Latest Order Dates.

Or if you have more complex inter-site scenario where you wanna handle this offset, then you could define any of the fields in the Supply Chain MAtrix for SIte as per your needed combinations:

As has been mentioned on other posts, Safety Lead Time does not appear to work with DOP supplied parts. There are “delays” that can be added in the application but if safety lead time could be used with DOP, that would be ideal.

Otherwise, the DOP purchase req has a Wanted Receipt Date that is the same date as the Shop Order Start Date, which is not ideal!

@Manxmano Unfortunately Safety Lead Time is not considered by DOP: But I agree it would be useful. Please consider requesting this from the Idea section of the community.
