Is anyone successfully using the promotion utility for Forms/Workflows/Shared Fields? I was very enthusiastic about the concept but I’m finding the reality somewhat more disappointing

We have used it successfully to reduce the effort required to replicate these things between environments. It dug us out of a hole when our firewall started to block traffic to our test environment which prevented us from using the customiser there. However, there are some nuances that need to be sorted out.
