Dear all,

since the equipment redesign is made possible in IFS Cloud 22R1, will there be the possibility to have that functionality for Assets (Functional Objects) as well?

There is a big demand from DACH customers to be able to move Functional Objects also to other companies.

This is due to the fact, that their assets can be moved in their company structures, and we all know within a EU holding, a lot of companies can exists.

Since the primary key for equipment objects is now just an internal sequence number it should be easy to open up for renaming and also moving of objects to other sites (earlier, site (“contract”) was one of the keys). I tried to rename a function object just now and it was not possible to just edit the Object ID field. Perhaps something else needs to be fixed before we can open that up. Any comments, @Mayura Wasantha, @deshan.ekanayake?

In 22R1 we have not implemented that for Functional Object move due to time constraints. Yet we have plans to do it in a coming release, most probably release after next.

However as Mathias as mentioned above, the introduction of Object Sequence at the back end is fully supportive to both functional and serial objects. Hence anyone willing to do a small customization on the functional move logic, would be able to achieve the results.

A very simple example of such a customization (or really "configuration") would be to add a custom event that, when a user saves the text "rename OBJECTID" (or whatever) in the description field, the event would trigger and execute a custom event action that renames the object to that ID. one would have to workaround the "mutating table" problem since we want to update the same table that we are triggering on, but there are simple solution for that, all described here on IFS Community. The same could be done for moving to another site. Easy peasy! 😃
