IFS Components / Entities and Changes

Hi. For IFS Cloud 23R1 and above...

1 - It is sometimes difficult to figure out what the abbreviations of modules / components mean (ACCRUL, RMCOM, etc.). Is there somewhere where we can find a comprehensive list with descriptions of all of the modules / components available in IFS Cloud, preferably noting the parent module / component of each? 

2 - We are working on upgrading to 23R1 and are struggling with some of the changes to projections, entities, page configurations, etc., even We've reviewed IFS technical documentation and all of the release notes.  Is there somewhere that more specifically and comprehensively lists detailed changes for 23R1+ modules, projections, entities, and database changes? 

For example, on the tech docs for 21R2, there is a section under Installation Roadmap that includes component changes, entity changes, and database changes: https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/21r2/020_installation/005_installation_roadmap/010_component_changes/.

Thanks, but I saw that already.  It doesn’t list every component that is installed (for example, there are subcomponents of those components that are not separately listed), and I am also looking for a list of all possible components that could be installed.

What you’ve found is probably as good as it gets for Cloud documentation.  There is lots of high level information, but the really deep and thorough stuff you need to make decisions and correlations just doesn’t exist.  It is a long struggle to teach yourself and requires lots of digging and experimenting.

If you tick “Show All” on the Installed Components page in IFS Cloud, it will give you a comprehensive list, including inactive components. (Note: the same page in IFS Applications will only ever show installed components.)

IFS doesn’t have sub-components as such, unless you’re referring to the entities (which you can find in the Solution Manager > System Information and Utilities > Entities > Entity page). There are of course relationships between the components, but these are not documented afaik. You’d have to snoop through the source code (deploy.ini files) to find that (or ask someone who knows).

There are lots of components and some curly names. For instance, MPCCOM holds basic and transactional data common to warehousing, purchasing, sales and manufacturing, whereas DISCOM (Distribution Common) is similar but excluding manufacturing. IFS Cloud is… how should I put it?… a large and capable application but therefore also quite complex.
