Our client has requested that the resource plan for each team be solidified for the following day, meaning no changes are to be made once the plan is set. This requirement is due to the need for team members to visit the storage house to pick up materials at the end of their shifts.
We have considered various approaches to meet this request, and the idea that stood out is committing the entire next day’s activities before the end of the current day’s shift. However, this approach has a potential issue: the client still needs the ability to allocate activities to the current day's shift, particularly in the case of any emergencies.
For instance, if a shift starts at 7:00 AM and a emergency occurs at 10:40 AM, this new activity must be addressed immediately. In such a scenario, we need the PSO to reallocate resources from the already committed activities to address the emergency. Therefore, if an activity is planned to start at 10:40 AM, the PSO would unallocate this activity and instead plan for the emergency to be resolved.
We have the following questions:
- Is there a better way to address the client's request?
- Is there a configuration for the PSO that would allow it to behave as described in our scenario?
