Hi, Is it allowed to delete empty Inventory locations, which had some transactions earlier?

Hi,

You can delete an empty inventory location if there are no inventory part in stock records.
So, once qty on hand is 0, you may have to run the Cleanup Inventory job to remove these remaining records.

The location should also not be defined as a default location. If applicable, a different location should be assigned default location first.
There may be other restrictions in place (e.g. at the moment it is not possible to delete a shipment location which is connected to a CO).

Regards, Linda

Delete Inventory Part in Stock records using the above process, yes, I agree with that.

Delete Inventory Location records that have been used in transactions.  There are more restrictions on that. In addition to the ones connected to customer orders as mentioned, if the part has been used as a proposed location on a shop order, it can’t be deleted.

Thank you very much. I am getting the error as shown above. How to find the DO ?

Hi,

If you query for the “Proposed to Location” = “C1503”, do you get any results in the Distribution Order window?

Distribution Orders will be another block to deleting locations.

If you want to stop using them, and you can’t delete them, you have to start hiding them.  Each inventory location can be hidden from view and blocked to prevent receipts, this is the way of deactivating locations for future use when you can’t delete them.

From the Warehouse Navigator, you can block at any level and hide at any level.

You can drill down to the Bin (location number) level if required to block the receipts and hide the location.

This is the best you will be able to do if the location is used as shown in your DO example.
