Hi,

For a customer case, we would like to perform a service order for an “uninstallation” and the related reverse logistics : for this item unstalled, we should manage a shipping process from mobile edge.
Several Cases seems to be possible  :
1/ no materiel line in the SV, you run the SV and you unstall an installed item and shipped it
2/ no materiel line in the SV, you run the SV and you unstall a component and shipped it

3/ no materiel line in the SV, you run the SV and you unstall an Unknown Item and shipped it (it’s unknown when the SV is created, but you could create it in the field when service agent arrive on site)

For theses use cases : could be manage an unstallation and the shipping process in the field in the same way we manage a swap ?
what is the best way ?

Thanks and Regards

Hi Anthony,

Short answer yes.

Uninstall is almost the same as the swap except you are not deploying anything new.  If you were doing a swap your disposition is set to fulfilled.  In you are doing an uninstall action, the disposition is uninstall and the product/serial number is updated to reflect the object of service, not a new product/item.

The I don’t see any issue with scenarios 1 & 2 as long as the object of service for the service order is properly defined.  You should be able to uninstall items and components related to the items (make sure the returnable flag is enabled. You will need to create a new material line just like with a swap but the disposition will be uninstall which then opens the the demand material return section.

To be clear for the third scenario, your engineer will link the item as an installed item on the site prior to your uninstall.  If that is the case, it also should not be a problem as long as it also configured as the object of service for the work order.  Once that is done, you are basically following your first scenario.
