Can you please explain why "Macros" do not work on multiple document selections, but only on a single document selection? Is it a software fault?

This is not a software fault, but how the system is designed.

When we work with multiple documents at the same time it's very difficult to execute macros. It will be too complex and will be frustrating for users to select this option to each and every document; for an example: consider a scenario where the selected documents had several file types checked in. (i.e. word, pdf, excel etc.) The macros run will be different for each file type and if the selected documents are from several classes then process actions defined for these classes can be different. (i.e., some might have 'no macro', some might have select and run etc.) Therefore, it has been decided NOT to allow macros for multiple documents because of the complexity involved.
So Product Development team has intentionally restricted running macros for single document only. There is no workaround for executing macros for multiple documents (other than doing it one by one).
