IFS Cloud: REST API int/main

Hi,The main reason to have the “Include in Application Compatibility Type” feature in IFSAPPS 10 was to make it possible to use http basic authentication on the “int” context for APIs that were available on the “main” context. However IFS Cloud no longer supports/recommends http basic authentication due to security reasons. This means you can directly use the APIs from the main context using OAuth negating the need for “Include in Application Compatibility Type” in IFS Cloud.

Error in Workflow

Hi @EntUviniG This is most likely due to how the APIs have been designed to work than the Workflow/BPA functionality itself. It seems like the the record you are trying to create will get filtered out in a subsequent read operation. Therefore the API prevents you from creating a record that you cannot access. This can be due to the values in your payload as well as some where condition in the underlying datasource.You can verify this by calling the API with the same payload from a tool like Postman using the same user credentials.Thanks,/Rifki

Yes this will need to be a third party solution that could be commercial (most likely) or free/open source. No we don’t have any plans to embed an API manager in the near future.

Hi @GaSoGB The best approach IMO here would be to place an API Management solution in front the IFS APIs (perhaps only the ones you need to expose) and get external systems to call IFS APIs via the API Manager. This will give you comprehensive governance capabilities (including monitoring, auditing etc.) for external API invocations.Regards,/Rifki

Hi,You should be able to type this structure in the request body textbox in the Workflow designer right? I think more importantly what you need to check is whether the external API will accept such a structure and create multiple objects? This will not work unless the external API actually supports it.

Hi,This would depend on the batching capabilities of the external API you are calling. For example IFS Cloud REST APIs supports batching multiple operations into a single requests. https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/23r1/040_tailoring/300_extensibility/100_odata_provider/700_batch_requests/Do you see any limitation in the Workflow designer itself that is limiting the payload to just one object?

IFS Cloud 22R2 - API Explorer Documentation

Hi @GaSoGB There are no plans at the moment to enable customers to copy the documentation and place it on their own servers. One of the advantages of having the API documentation in the application is that it is dynamic in nature. For example when configurations are made to the APIs (e.g. custom fields) or new custom APIs are developed the API documentation will automatically pick this up. This will not be possible when the documentation is copied and placed in another location as static files.However if this is not an issue, one option would be for customers to download the OpenAPI v3 specifications for all relevant APIs and then publish them using a 3rd party documentation tool (Redoc, Swagger etc.) hosted in their own server to visualize the API docs.

Hi @gumabs Looking at your screenshot it seems like you have missed setting an entity set for the page. The “Datasource Entity Set” field is empty in your page designer setting above.When this is done the URL for the default call when clicking New should look something like …/HfmReport.svc/<EntitysetName>/IfsApp.HfmReporting…. Hi @roshangaAs a rule you cannot reference configuration objects (custom attributes, custom entities etc) from your customization code. IFS Cloud 22R2: Calling CRUD methods in a service package(SVC) from another Custom Service package

Hi @GaSoGB The CRUD methods in an SVC package is only meant to be used within the corresponding API call flow and not from another API context.Please follow the standard code flow as designed in the Core code, where calls are made from the SVC to relevant entity DB APIs and not to other SVCs.Regards,/Rifki

Get Complex structures in ODATA, second question

Hi @LevFredrB , This particular $expand scenario (1 to many) is currently not supported in the IFS OData implementation. However we have plans to support this in a future release.Also note that this can be modeled today in Marble using the array keyword in the projection model. Hi @MarkMr the existence of an ObjKey is a good indicator of the API being used in an assistant. The only usage I see for an external client is when you want to replicate the exact step-by-step nature of an assistant in the IFS web UI. In most other scenarios (e.g. typical integrations) this type of API will not fit the requirement.The clues will be the endpoint optionally containing the word “virtual” and usually the existence of attributes named ParentObjKey/ObjKey

@Mathias Dahl sorry for the confusion.@MarkMr the APIs above are based on virtuals which store intermediate data temporarily may not serve your requirement since they are used only for entering document text using a wizard and not for retrieving them. Virtual based APIs should only be used to mimic the step-by-step nature of wizards in the UI where the actual business object is created or updated when the “Finish” button is clicked.Read more here: In your case, it would most likely require some other API connected to Customer Order Line.

HI @MarkMr That API seems to be used only for entering document texts typically using an assistant/dialog in the web client. You get a “resource not found” since the data (document text in this case) is only stored temporarily until the Finish/Ok button is clicked in the client.@Mathias Dahl any thoughts about an API to get the required information here?Regards,/Rifki
