Hi,

We just starting to use IFS10 and we’re learning how to effectively use the MRP APW. We need to plan our shop orders ahead of the demand date for production level loading, but this creates Early Order MRP messages. How can we dismiss these messages once reviewed, so they do not re-appear after the MRP run? Of course until the demand date changes...

Hi!

Understanding MRP logic and its action messages, and have a common way to work with the MRP messages can really help you to make more benefit of IFS MRP component. If you ‘use it, but don’t care so much about it’ you get a feeling of drowning in all new MRP messages that floods you every day. We have many customers that just look into IPAP and do not care about MRP Actions Messages. Just wanted to say that...

IFS MRP cleares and creates new MRP messages every time it is executed. It is just the way it works. You can for your Early Order messages, use RMB - Action for Order and then type in a comment like “we have moved this order because of level loading”. Next time you run MRP this comment will still exist. This comment is associated with the column “Action Notes” in MRP APW, it is just a check box you can search on. (I think it would be good to actually show the comment as well - but in IFS Core you cannot today).

The Action Notes will remain as long as the order is open. Perhaps you can use this when searching in MRP APW, I mean to help you search for Early Orders with no Action Note comment.

There are two other columns:

  • Action Taken Date
  • Action Taken

These guys are cleared upon next MRP execution, so probably not that interesting for you.

There might be another way that you may want to use to mitigate your ‘too many early orders’ problem….

Open MRP APW and search for Early Order messages. Then scroll to the right and you will see two columns Reschedule Calendar Days and Reschedule Manufacturing Days. They will have a positive integer value for Early Order messages. The idea here would be to skip Early Orders that are just less than X days early. Just gimme the ones that are “very early".

A way to do this in the MRP Message Filter screen is to create a filter like “V-EARLY” with a description like “Very Early Order - more than 15 days”.

Then you should type in “Early Order” in the MRP Message Condition field and “15” in Reschedule Calendar Days - Min field.

Then try out this filter in MRP APW. You should now only see the Early Orders that are equal or more than 15 days early.

Good Luck with synchronizing MRP with your Shop Order execution!
