Hello,  I’m attempting to use the Copy Part feature to copy an Inventory Part, Routing, and Product structure to another site in my system. Currently, we are creating parts in an estimating site that houses all of our work centers, labor classes, etc. Once the parts are finalized, I would like to use the Copy Part function to move those parts to the correct manufacturing site. I have noticed that the Copy Part function works, however it does not bring over my routing steps. I’ve tried changing the status to Build, but the routing steps still do not appear after the copy. I’m not sure if there is something I’m missing, or if this is how the Copy Part function works when you try to copy to another site.  The final item I’ve noticed is that you are not able to copy a new Product Structure component part to a new site unless you manually copy the part prior to running the Copy Part from the top level Inventory Part. We have a request for implementing an interface between TeamCenter, the PLM system of Siemens with IFS10. Do you have it up and running or have you looked at it. I don’t need full specs here, more a sense of how difficult it would be to prepare such an interface or that it can be bought from a partner or Siemens. We have an existing part where Inventory UoM is set to EA.  We would like to change it to Case.  Is there any way to do that with an existing part and maintain all of the history or do we have to create a new part?    

Hi,Is it possible to have 2 different inventory parts linked/connected to the same engineering part depending on the site ?For one enginnering part, eg : Part-A, In site-1, it is Part-A (manufactured)In site-2, it is Part-B (purchased) Thanks for your helpCarole

HelloWe are using shop orders, and are now looking into standard operations and routing operations. Everything works well and looks good.  The only thing not suitable for us, is the need of manually report operations / or manually close operations. At least for now we don’t need this. When we try to recieve inventory without reporting operations we get this Error Message, but I can’t seem to figure out how to find or how to use auto report functionality. Please help. :)   

when is the EOL support for IFS 8 ?  Also is there anybody implemented other than Oracle as a backend… It would be great if you could drop a line. We would be happy to get an assistance from you.     

Hi, has anyone got any advice on how often to perform cycle counting against ABC classifications. I understand the concept of ABC and how to calculate and classify parts (including frequency and lifecycle) but wondering if anyone has any guidance on the days between counts against ABC/Frequency. We often have problems on shop orders where parts cannot be issued because they are being counted and this frustrates the heck out of the planners. My feeling is that we are counting too frequently and I would like to increase the cycle interval but not too sure where the sweet spot would be.Grateful if you could share your experiences.Thank you!

I’m attempting to build finished goods (master schedule level 1 parts) using an EOQ planning method (E or F). When running MS, it generates requisitions based on lot for lot logic, disregarding planning methods.I also attempted planning method G and set the order cover time out far enough to where many of these requisitions should be combined and there was no change. Am I missing something, does MS not consider planning methods?IFSApp10.    

if the shop order has operation of assemly. how to determin the assembly work hours? we tried to input the work hours in the collum of “labor factor”, the start date is not calculate with it. but the lead time can calculate based on labor factor(when we set it up in “lead time calculation basis”). Dont you think it is a conflict? what would you suggest to build up a shop order with only assembly operations? thanks!

Hi We are trying to find the best way to utilize IFS Non Conformance Report for working according to the 8D-method. This is standard in the automotive industri and we are obliged to document according to this method. Has anyone else done this and found best practice for this in IFS? We are thinking of a couple of alternatives: Create one action in the NCR, then create/process one CAPA for this but it doesn´t cover all the 8 steps. Create 8 actions in the NCR to represent the 8 steps in the method. Create CAPA actions for step 3 and 5 in the method if necessary. (It is a lot of steps/administration to handle each action) Create one NCR with one Capa, then create 8 actions in the CAPA.

When logged on certain pc on trying to view the IFS field help I receive a incorrect file type error.   If the same user logs on another machine they do not experience this problem, the field help displays correctly.   Any ideas?

Customer (Apps10 EE) wants to create a document revision without a file and in a field on the document revision enter a link to an external location where the file will reside. I recall doing this before custom fields were readily available, but I cannot recall where in the document revision the link was entered. Anybody have experience with this without using a custom field?

The company that I work is looking to utilize Package Part.I was wondering if somebody from the community has some documents about to utilize such module. We are currently in IFS 9 and we are looking forward to upgrade to IFS 21. Anybody has some advice what is new in for package part or what was new for IFS 10 regarding to package part.I will appreciate any feedback from you.

Hello, We’re looking for some ideas how to auto print a report off the back of an event. An example would be, once we have registered an arrival, and a receipt record created, details from the receipt would then triggered and drive the report details though to print. Currently, we have a custom Crystal Report that is accessed via an RMB Custom Menu. But would like to use this report and it be automatically fired, and printed to a local printer to the user. I have read other posts mentioning CR is a little ‘heavy’ for printing labels, but would like to hear what options there are within our current process/setup to automate printing based on certain functional trigger points. Thanks for reading.Rob**Currently on Apps10 UPD8**

There are more than one occasions that I have come across that our users define one physical machine in 2 sites expecting to plan shop order operations seamlessly. But this set up sometime leads to very confusing consequences. Example : Company : A Site : X Site : Y Expensive CNC machine is installed in Site X ( defined as a manufacturing work center in Site X as "CNC-X"). But this usually runs under capacity ( lets assume that both sites runs on 8 hr calendar). So The company decides that they can put some shop orders registers in Site Y to be done in the under utilized work center in Site X. Therefore it is decided to define the work center in site Y as " CNC-Y" in IFS. Now lets assume that the manufacturing planner has access to both site X and site Y shop order operations. Hi, How to move part from one location type to another?  Currently Part A sits at ‘Picking’ location but we want to move this to ‘Arrival’ or ‘Quality Assurance’ ?  I am trying to move it using transport task but it is showing me an error that “cannot move to location type “Arrival” when not connected to purchase order.  We have received PART A using purchase order. Please let me know how can we proceed on this. Thank you for your help. 

HiIn a scenario where we are purchasing lot/batch controlled parts for our manufacturing processes we want to have a high-level report per lot/batch.The report needs to provide an overview of a given lot/batch or several lot/batches for customs authorities. In essence the report must tell what quantity of the lot/batch do we havein inventory  in inventory as a  component in a manufactured part (at any level of the structure of the manufactured part in inventory) in WIP (that is when 1. the lot/batch itself or  2. a part containing the lot/batch as a component is issued to a Shop Order where the product is not yet finished) Issued to customer through Customer Order or ProjectI’m aware of the lot-batch master but finds that this provides a way to find the non-aggregated details.Hope someone can help.BR Kristian

We are looking into using the Alternate Parts Functionality.  What is the difference between setting up the Alternate Part on the Part Master / Alternative Parts tab and the other two screens (Alternate Purchase Part Base Data and Alternate Purchase Part Base Date). While testing, it seems thatentries made on the Part Master screen don’t have any underling functionality other than copying the information to the alternate part.  No information appears on the Alternate Purchase Part Base Data and Alternate Purchase Part Base Date screens. entries made on the Alternate Purchase Part Base Data and Alternate Purchase Part Base Date screens copy there information back to the Master Parts TabI am trying to determine the business process.I have not seen where any entries on the Alternate Purchase Part Base Data and Alternate Purchase Part Base Date screens effect Customer Orders or Purchase Orders.  What am I missing here… any info woul

Does anyone know if it’s possible to schedule the “Calculate Order Cost” for all Shop Orders on a particular site or can this job only be run manually one shop order at a time?     Thanks  

Is it possible to move an inventory part to a Quality Assurance location if the part was not received on a PO?  Manufacturing would like to move non-conforming parts to a non-conformance location until final disposition is determined.

Hi Community,I'm receiving the following error while trying to remove a branch (level 1) from a TOP Level DOP Order.(RMB on DOP Order ID 2 Line -> Remove Specific Branch(es))Environment: APP10 Regional TEST LKP Level 1 DOP Order is in cancelled state. After further analyzing, I noticed that the subsidiary DOP Orders are also cancelled.1. Any idea what might cause the above mentioned oracle error when removing the mentioned branch?Noticed that the Due Date of this DOP Order is in the past and the demand source is not mentioned in the DOP Header.2. Have a customer question related to FIFO as below: How is it possible to revalue FIFO costing method inventory parts? We updated the cost set 2 and copied to cost set 1 however the inventory value did not changed? Please advise me.

How do you get a custom report to display in Order Reports screen? The custom report is defind and printable but I can not get it to be listed in the Order Report screen.  Are there specific permissions or grants to assign to the presentation objects? Any suggestions? Thank you

We are using IFS 9 update 14 with multi-company connections.A user from our US company is trying to register project time for a connected project/activity from our Finnish company. When saving the entry they get the error message: You cannot modify project transactions of company CCUS without a valid position assignment.The users have been setup as multi-company correctly and have successfully registered time for other multi-company projects. We have seen this error occur for another muti-company project. The solution for that issue was a missing default site value on the project. (Not the solution this time.)We assume there is an issue with the project/activity or multi-company connection but, the time reg. message is not providing much help. Comparing the problem project with another working project has not shown any differences in the configuration.

Hi can anyone explain the difference between shop order total standard cost, shop order total estimate cost and shop order total actual cost?when reviewing the data they are all different and don't understand what data it is pulling from.regardsJamie
