Hi everyone, I am looking for some advise and real live example of the usage of MRB VS Control Plan. We are in the process of developing a solution for our QA inspection in IFS and our consultant recommends MRB instead of Control Plan. I am hoping someone can help me understand when should MRB be used in place of Control Plan.   Thanks

Hi, For a specific client need in IFS (not FSM solution) we have the following requirements : 1) RMA advance replacement : the company does not await for items under RMA to be returned before to exchange the part and send the new one to the customer2) RMA item quality inspection at arrival : the items need to be inspected (parts are company owned now, not client property anymore)3 options after inspection : A)  ScrappingB)  To be reconditionnedC)  Supplier return if the part is still under warranty (The part can not be directly send to the supplier by the customer, previous analysis by the company is a mandatory step)3) If the part can be reconditionned, a repair action must be launched.4) Once the repair operations has been performed, the item must be identified as a repaired one and available to be resaled to another client or used for a maintenance operation (not necessalery for the same client as the o

Does anyone know if a document attachment in IFS can be added to a report or automated email?  Here is our situation, but the applications are many.  We have approval drawings attached to parts in IFS.  If the part is entered on a Business Opportunity or Customer Order, we want that approval drawing as part of the Quotation Document generated by the Business Op or the Order Acknowledgement. btw - we are on Apps 10.

Hi all, We have an issue with our backflush settings. Previously the Backflush Part setting is set to All Locations for all parts. However, there are only some parts where we actively want to backflush. We are seeing cases where users select to backflush during receipt of shop order and unintentionally we consume stock. I have tried to prevent this by changing the settings to ‘Only Specified Location’ for all parts. On reading of the help and initial test this was perfect. It will prevent backflush, unless you specify a location for backflush on the shop order material or purchase components. However, the change in this setting appears to prevent automatic reservation of parts. This a a problem as we want parts to be freely reserved and picked via a pick list (or manual issue in some cases).  Our ideal solution is for backflush to be off completely, unless we specify a location where backflush can take place. Is this possible?

when user create new part revision, i would like to set a CF to “A Value” or “B value” depends on revision number (eng_chgt_level). Actually, i do it by an event and a background job but users have to refresh the screen to see value affected. An another option is to do it by an Oracle Trigger BEFORE INSERT by it is not a IFS “best practice”. What is the best way to set and display default value on screen while you’re typing data of a new record ?

Hi, I don't fully understand the date logic in the time-phased supply proposals created by IFS for an end-item (in an engineer-to-order setting). Can you outline the key types of dates (or 'offsetting inputs') that figure within scheduling. From specifying when the user desires said item, to all the subsequent dates that are generated after BoM explosion. The 'tools' at are disposal are IFS Apps 10, namely, MRP that executes 'Infinite Scheduler' and 'APB' (our method to CBS schedule items to reflect 'live' capacity constraints such as the current load at a given work centre). I'll provide a brief description of our current practice and raise questions alongside that. If there's any misuse, do say so. Overview: A 'Required Date' is specified when demand is created, used to say when project 'X' is desired. Does this input need to be constrained by a lead time, whether plausible or not? Hi, We have created a lobby element with the SQL query builder. However, we cannot enter an order by here. By default, it sorts by machine number (but we have not set this ourselves) and we want to sort by zip code. How can we solve this?  

My company is on Apps 9 and I have an issue with a subcontracting purchase order. The purchase order was created from a purchase requisition whose demand came from an outside operation on a shop order. The purchase requisition generated one line for the total quantity on the shop order. When our purchasing department converted it to a purchase order they added additional lines, reduced the quantity on the original line and all lines now total the original first line. By doing this, the original demand code was changed from Demand Code “Shop Order" to Demand Code "Non Inventory” on the added lines. Now when we Register Purchase Order Arrivals for the added lines, they are not connected to the shop order and we are unable to complete the operation on the shop order. What can we do to enable us to receive in the purchase order and have it connected to the shop order. Example: Purchase Requisition generated from Shop order for 500 EA. Purchase order created for 5 lines of 100 EA.

I ran Perform ABC, Frequency and Lifecycle Classification for the first time in a test environment.  We have been on IFS for 15 months.  A majority of our items changed to C even though Inventory Basic Data is set to I aggregate inventory every month.  Is there anything else I need to do before running Perform ABC, Frequency and Lifecycle Classification?  Do I need to close Statistics Periods?  Is there any way to print the logic that was used in calculating the new ABC code?  This is our first time doing this and I’d like to this information for documentation purposes and for audit purposes.

We have a need to send purchase orders to multiple people at the supplier (procurement and quality group for example).  How do we do this with an Event?  We have the same issue with Customer Invoices needing to go to Customers (Procurement, Quality and Finance).  If we have one, we would be able to figure out the other.

I am trying to generate a GS1 QR Code in IFS Report Designer but cannot find a way to create a group separate to separate the columns that will create the QR Code.   Wadaco Configuration has been created so that FNC1 code 10 = LOT_BATCH_NO and code 241 = PART_NO.   I therefore created a READ ONLY custom field that using the following SELECT statement:   SELECT '10'||lot_batch_no||chr(29)||'241'||part_no FROM INVENTORY_PART_BARCODE WHERE objid = :objid   If I copy and paste the value from the custom field into Wadaco GS1 Barcode 1 on clicking SAVE the the value of the LOT_BATCH_NO is displayed in the Lot Batch field and the value of PART_NO is displayed in the Part No field. Unfortunately, adding the custom field to IFS Report Designer the ascii value appears to be ignored as copying the value displayed on the report and pasting it as above the full value appears in the Lot Batch field. We are planning to use part characteristics or technical classes and attributes to make it easier for users to find parts or products. Initially we thought it is the same thing and hoped that after technical attributes are defined that they would also be shown in the inventory part as well. This is not the case.What is the system logic to separate part characteristics or technical attributes? Which of these two functionalities are suitable to be used in what cases?  

Hi Community we are using IFS APP 10 and using the process ‘shop order infinite scheduling’ to schedule our production plans. we are trying to establish a best practice for reviewing and actioning action proposals generated when we run MRP weekly. Currently only a few of the action proposals and actioned and the rest generally ignored.does anyone know of documentation that can identify a best practice or standard approach to take when reviewing action proposals?I'm guessing not all action proposals are equal? so I am trying to identify the hierarchy of importance so our planning department can filter those action proposals on the MRP action proposal workbench. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.kind regardsJamie 

We are new in IFS and when we trying to report picking in shipment, we getting en error; “The value of the inventory transaction may not be 0 for part xxx on site xxx” When i look at the inventory part’s cost section for this material, the unit cost field is not empty or equal zero. Could you help me how can i fix this issue?

I am looking at how Comment Functionality works for different File types as Redline? currently I have defined “doc” as view and “docx” as Redline type and expect to open comment with MS Word. however I still manually change the Redline copy from “Doc” to “Docx”. The errorI get is “Can not start external Viewer application”. This is just one example, I am trying to find out how Redline app works for each individual file type. for example for a word file,Excel or Autocad? Thanks, Aida.

We’re on APPS10 UP6.   I’ve configured the IFS History Log to show changes to a specific field on the inventory Part.  The logging works and as an administrator I can see all changes,  but when a user on the Inventory Part does View - Record History  they can only see the changes they made not the field changes that another user made.  To me that defeats the purpose of the Record History - to see who changed a field and to what value.  If I set system Privilege = Administrator in their Role, then they can see changes from all users.  But we don’t want to give Administrator Access to any users.   Is this by design or is there a setting in the Roles that allow this action without setting as Administrator?   I’ve tried to give access through the role but can’t get it to work.

Hi, I’ve been experimenting with 'Manual Pegging of Shop Order Material Line'. I’ve grasped the basic mechanics, which is to search for a part and assign it (by allocating the full qty. ‘available’ to the level above (selecting the relevant order no).   The only discernible change is when I check ‘Inventory Part Availability’ the ‘Pegged’ column is whatever qty. you assigned (both for the supply and demand elements). Are there other benefits besides this? I hope there is, otherwise, you wonder what the point of this somewhat manual practice is.   Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.   Many thanks, Jay

Hi, I have just joined a manufacturing/defence company that has chosen IFS apps 10 as their erp of choice. I have supported users in the past but never been part of an implementation. They are asking me to put together a list of information we need to gather from the users that will help the implementation and config. Does anyone have any pointers/document?The only info I have is that IFS has listed these modules as within the scope: Distribution, Engineering, Finance, Project, Human Resources, Health & Safety, Maintenance, Program Management, Production (work orders etc.)

IFS Setup:  IFS Apps 10 Barcode Printer:  Zebra ZT-420 Crystal Reports:  2016 I am trying to create the inventory part barcode label in GS1 format.   This looked to have worked in IFS Report Designer by using a custom field to generate the code required and using the DataMatrix label format.   However, although I have amended the page layout to be 10cm x 7cm it still appears to be printing as per A4, the label prints in the centre of the width of the page.  If I look at the layout in report designer layout it still specifies A4 and will not let me change the value.   How can I do this? Secondly, can anyone recommend a GS1 Barcode Font provider that can be used in Crystal Reports as that was my second choice to create the barcode label. If we have to purchase from a GS1 Barcode Font provider, how is this implemented into IFS.  I think the ‘plugin’ would have to be installed on the middleware server.  Is there a specific folder that the font needs to
