We would like to be able to track ownership of our Product’s within the system.  That way if we ever have a product change we can notify the correct people or groups of people within the organization.

Example Product:  Instrument Landing

Example Ownership Matrix:         Product Functional Owner = Jane Doe

Product Technical Owner = John Smith

Product Safety Owner = US Safety Team

In a perfect world, we would be able to track different people for a Design Product vs an deployed equipment.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Which version are you using as if you’re able to create a custom field this really is rather simple… if not its a little more tricky…

If the product refers to a sales part, for instance, you could utilize the Doc Text function for a ready-made, quick, easy solution. You can configure Doc Text, so that both Output Type, and Doc Phrase can be picked from LOVs, each referring to type of ownership, and Person ID, respectively.

For example, Output Type = PFO refers to Product Functional Owner, and its Doc Text/Pharase could be JDOE.

A simple quick report would be able to fetch the data out easily for a given Sales Part/Inventory Part.

I was was wondering if there is a more out of the box way of handling this type of ownership matrix?  We will want to be able to use logic to look these users and groups up and communicate via email and streams when changes happen to items they own.

Thoughts?
