Customer needs to use Kanban but don't want it to move any stock with any Availability Code on that stock.

Customer knows there is a setup within Availability Code to "Not Allow" on Part Movement Control, but don't want to stop moving items with an Availability Code. Customer just don't want Kanban to use that stock.

Is this something has seen before and is there any way round it.

How does it work in IFS10?

I have tested in APPS10 many availability controls and that parameter of “Not Allow” on Part Movement Control works fine. Please find in LCS a possible fixed bug for that if in your IFS version/update doesn’t work like that. In fact, that control allows IFS to know if the stock can be inserted in the transport task or not, Kanban is just a way to predefine source, destination, part and quantity to be introduced automatically in that task (in other words, if you define that control you cannot even create transport tasks to move that blocked material.

The brief you on the Part movement control functionality is as follows:

Path : Inventory Part Basic data > Part availability controls

All Allowed – The movement of parts (in general for all instances) to another location is allowed.

Not Allowed – The part movement is restricted and the parts cannot be moved to any location unless the availability control ID is changed.

The additional feature in application 10, is the column expiration date. Which makes it possible to set a valid period date for specific stock. (Inventory part in stock window). This feature further enhances the options.

This feature can also be setup as mandatory. [ inventory part > Acquisition tab > you would find s check box]

However, the requirement that you have raised for only Kanban not to consider the stock is not possible via the current functionalities. Meaning with the Not Allowed option even transport task will not be created.

This could be raised to RND to further have their input as a enhancement request.
