Query on automatic leave calculations

Here’s the scenario:

An employee leaves the company in mid - February.

IFS has already allocated their leave for the whole month, so it is now incorrect.

Is there any way to change the granularity to “weekly” instead of the default “monthly” and “yearly” options?

Hi Paul,

Do you refer the qualification period on Absence Configuration, limit definitions? Can you clarify the requirement with more details please?

Hi Lasanthi,

I work with Paul.

The issue is that the absence limit generation is triggered at the start of the month (based on the month setting). What we have found is that where the employee leaves mid month they will get the full holiday assigned despite not having “Earned” it.

I would like to understand what the options are to stop the full value of the month’s holiday being added at the start of the month and understand how other IFS customers have got around this issue.

Hi Paul,

Thanks

Hi Lasanthi,

Basically, we’d like to be able to restrict the automatic allocations.

So, if an employee has only worked one week in a month before they leave, then they only get a week’s allocation of leave.

If they worked 2 weeks, then they get 2 week’s allocation, etc.

Currently, they would get a full month’s worth of allocation after working one day, and we have to manually adjust this.

Can anyone clarify how the qualification period settings work, and whether this would achieve our aim?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi @Helen Smith , @PDPPAULRAK ,

Have you tried Limit  setting parameter value? There, we can define either the number of days or portion to qualify for the period. It may not handle day by day. But you can specify how many days it should be considered when giving full month allocation.

  • Number of days to qualify full period - that is the threshold given in days to qualify the period in full for the purpose of limit calculation, for example: 10 meaning if the employee works 10 days in the month, they get the full month allowance.
  • Portion of the period to qualify it fully (%) -  that is the threshold given as a portion of the period to qualify fully period for the purpose of limit calculation, for example: 50 means that if an employee works half of the month they get the full month allowance.

Hope this would be beneficial to understand the existing functionality.

Best Regards,

Lasanthi
