A customer has custom data warehouse built in MS SQL server that they are using with multiple internal systems for reporting purposes. When using IFS Cloud they want to keep using the same data warehouse solution.

What is the best way of loading data to their existing data warehouse from IFS Cloud at the database level?

Is it possible to use Access Views for this purpose? if so are there any benefits of using access views for this rather than using Oracle views with direct DB connection?

Hi!

The concept of Access Views has been implemented for supporting loading of data to Data Warehouses. There are many benefits compared with using application views in IFS Cloud.

If the standard Information Sources and the Access Views based on the Information Sources are missing some information I would create IAL’s to “fill the gap”. The Access Views and the IAL’s are both located in the IFSINFO schema.

Hi Stefan,

I constantly read that IAL's will be deprecated in the future and that is is not recommended to create new ones in IFS Cloud. Are there alternatives to create views on IFS data (and where datwarehousing is a use case)

Hi!

The recommended standard way would be to create new Information Sources (and related views) as a standard modification. Then you can create Access Views based on the new Information Sources.
