Q&A Discussion of IFS Solutions for our IFS Employees, Partners and Customers
When entering text fields (like Part numbers) using the numeric keypad, the dot is shown as a comma. The regional and keyboard settings in Windows are set to keyboard layout en-US, which in every other application results in a dot. Changing regional settings or numeric format in the IFS options gives no result. Is there a way to influence the behavior of this?
“Failure of Web Server BridgeNo backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF or method not idempotent.” Has anyone encountered this message? The environment comes up and stays up for a brief amount of time (anything from 5 mins to 45 mins) before it fails with the error above when trying to connect.Nothing obvious in server monitoring tools. This is a test environment which isn’t heavily stressed. RegardsChris
Hi all, At one of our customers we have a "sizing" / "scaling" issue when printing (.zpl) Labels on Zebra printers. In the Label Designer or a ZPL Viewer, the Label Size seems to be correct. However when we print the actual labels, the information which is printed on the Labels is much smaller. Please look at the attached pictures. Although the picture is not perfect, the information on the actual printed label in real life is nearly not readable ( to small). And as you can see, the information printed is aligned to the upper left corner. While in the designer /or ZPL viewer, the information is nicely centered over the entire label. Does anyone of you have an idea what can be the cause of this? Can this be a printer setting, or something in the layout design? (Of course the actual label size is also 8 x 4 cm, as the label was designed. So we are not using the wrong label size.) Thanks and best regards!
I have a routing address setup to make a call to another system using REST in an IFS cloud managed environment. It works most of the time, but after multiple successful calls to the end point I start getting an error: Exception while sending data Caused by: javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Connection reset Caused by: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset. Does IFS utilize a security appliance in the cloud hosted environments that sends a RST packet to the Connect server automatically after a certain volume of transactions are processed? I have Connect configured to retry 60 times after 1 minute. This results in the message going from a waiting status to released after about a minute and then Connect picks it up and resends within a minute from there. As such a new RESTful connection for the same API call, but it continues to receive this error from anywhere from 10 minutes to multiple hours. If it is able to successfully make the connection which it does about 40% of the time, i
Does anyone know how to make a parameter mandatory? By default they are all optional. Also, is there a way to set a default value for a parameter? Lastly, is there IFS documentation or a manual on details like this? I’ve seen IFS pages that have general info, but nothing on technical details like the above or what else is doable/possible. As we start to develop our company’s custom reports I’m getting ideas and would like to know the capabilities and what’s possible with QuickReports.
I've been trying to understand the api calls via OData. For savety measures I've renamed our server instance to xyz. So far I found out the following: I logged on to an IFS10 environment via https://xyz:48080. I selected Entrance to Aurena for that. I opened a new tab in Google Chrome and copied in the following https://xyz:48080/main/ifsapplications/projection/v1/DocumentClassesHandling.svc/DocClassSet?$select=DocClass,DocName&$format=json This returns a list of available Doc Classes and their description (json formatted). Very nice. Using the same URL and pasting it in FireFox (with no IFS10 running) the server returned the following: https://xyz:48080/openid-connect-provider/login?rf=p8dCXSBiIY The logon screen is shown. Seems logical to me. No idea what the parameter rf means, but I logged in (with a full access user id). This resulted in: Nice that the json format is even made readable (again I learned something here). If I logout from Google Chrome IFS10 and request the sam
Recently we have uninstall Internet Explorer 11 from our client machines and started using Microsoft Edge as the default browser. then we are getting this error when try to open IFS EE using the Edge browser.as a workaround we are currently using Google Chrome with IFS Add-on.but It would be really helpful if anyone share a solution or any workaround to use the new Edge Browser? is there any add-on for Microsoft Edge as well?Thank you!
After we upgraded to IFS10 we are struggling with slowness in our Oracle DB. We haven’t been able to pinpoint the cause of our problems. But very often (5-10 times each week), we see that the CPU goes to 100% and doesn’t let go. Every user in our company are then struggling with slowness when this happens. As an example, saving a time registration can take 3-4 minutes.Today, a restart of the DB server was necessary to get it back to normal. We have used the query below to find CPU consuming operations, and have also checked background jobs and DMBS jobs. Nothing special has been running when the problems occur, or at least nothing that helps us to conclude on a specific problem.select s.username, s.inst_id, s.sid, s.serial#, s.status, (select value from gv$sesstat natural join v$statname where name = 'physical reads' and sid=s.sid)disk_reads, (select value from gv$sesstat natural join v$statname where name = 'session logical reads' and sid=s.sid) logical_reads, (select value/100 cpu_
We have a list of IFS document names in Sharepoint. Each document name has a link to IFS, which then opens the document. The link works when the user’s browser is Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge. It fails when the user’s default browser is Chrome, Mozilla, Firefox, etc. That’s because the link must first open IFS 10 (which it can’t do) before IFS can open it for viewing. Requiring all our users to set their default browser to either IE or Edge is NOT an option. How do I force a document link to open with a specific browser? For example, if the user has Chrome as the default browser, how do I force the link to open IFS 10 in Microsoft Edge?
I recently added a field to a stock IFS operational report and found it challenging. I'm probably missing something really basic. I've created and modified a lot of operational reports done with Crystal Reports, but this is the first time since Apps 2004 that I've tried to use the IFS tools. Does anyone have any better documentation/training material than what is supplied with the Report Designer? Or tips and tricks on creating/modifying reports with Report Designer?
Having worked with IFS Enterprise Explorer (EE) over the past 5 years, I am finding the transition to Aurena very challenging. Many of the features/functions I have come to rely upon in EE don’t seem to exist in Aurena. For example…Start pages Doc macros Structured Docs Info Cards Send to college Sticky notes Go-To-Column Conditional formatting Selections Save as template / New from template Copy and Paste Count hits Advanced search (i.e. group, count, sum, etc) Quick charts Find and replace Keyboard navigation (e.g. using cursor up and down in a table view) Keyboard shortcuts Open in new window (via Shift key) Save as draft Font colour for read only and Edited text (via options menu in EE) Expand all on Product Structure Graphic screen System info (context panel in EE) Output channels (context panel in EE) (also, neither field help or page help seem to work, and Aurena search sometimes gives inconsistent/incomplete results)Aurena offers 2 notable user-facing advantages over EE: The fi
Hi,I would like to share a piece of information on a term which you may have heard of more than once in the world of business software. It is none other than "license".In software industry, a software license can be defined as an agreement that gives an individual, a company or an organization permission to use a software application. The same applies to IFS. A license is required in order to use IFS Applications. When you are dealing with customers, it is highly probable that you have encountered several types of licensing. Let me give a brief idea on types of licensing in IFS applications. There there are 4 types of licenses.1. Full User2. Limited Task User (LTU)3. Additional Task User (ATU)4. Custom Task User (CTU)Let’s understand what those are a little bit more. 1.Full User LicenseThis is the most common license consumed by majority of usersAn F1 user will consume one full user license if :The user is a registered F1 user and is active. The F1 user is granted access to at least one p
A question that comes up regularly is “what does restricted support mean”? To start let’s remind ourselves that the maintenance agreement is applicable to the licensed IFS Application and not a specific version. Customers with an active maintenance agreement have access to the latest version available and maintenance is delivered in full for that version (standard support phase). Support is always delivered for the version a customer has in productive use however, if this version is under restricted support, there are limitations in the maintenance deliverables. In order to explain the details a bit more we need to look at two of the many objectives of a software maintenance agreement. Firstly ‘support’ is the reactive engagement to receive, accept and handle a case where a customer has encountered a problem. This problem is investigated and analysed, assistance to service restoration is provided and path to resolution is determined. In cases where the cause of this issue is an
Hi all, We are running PL/SQL Developer on our Windows clients with Oracle Instant Client. When doing so, the packages cannot handle Nordic characters (æøå). I think I have identified the problem as the NLS_LANG value in registry. I have an old installation that is working. It looks like this: On Instant Client theses entries does not exists (default is AMERICAN_AMERICAN.US7ASCII). SELECT distinct client_charset FROM v$session_connect_info WHERE sid = sys_context('USERENV','SID'); Anyone know an easy way to change NLS_LANG?
Can you please explain why each and every time I try to login to the community my current password is not recognized meaning that I have to send an email regarding a password change? Once I change the password the next time I login the system informs me that my credentials are invalid and I’m forced to repeat the password change process all over again.ThanksAlan
Postman is popular as a REST client but it works really well with SOAP requests as well and can be used to test IFS Web Services/BizApi requests.Hope following guide will help if anyone is interest in using Postman as a SOAP client for IFS integrations.Postman can be freely download from here.Following steps show how to make SOAP requests using Postman:1. Create a new RequestGive the SOAP endpoint as the request URLApps 10: https://<APP_SERVER_URL>:<PORT>/int/soapgateway Previous IFS versions: http(s)://<APP_SERVER_URL>:<PORT>/fndext/soapgatewaySet the request method to POST. 2.Set Auth HeaderGo to the Auth Tab,Select Type as Basic AuthType IFS username and password to be used for the integration 3.Set SOAPAction HeaderNext step to add the SOAPActin header, which is required by IFS SOAP Gateway to identify incoming message as a SOAP requestKey = SOAPAction Value =Synchronous:urn:soap_access_provider:<BizAPI_Name>orurn:soap_access_provider:<Handler_Name&
I have a question about WEBSERVICES and Token : how it works, what is the process to achieve the value transported. For example : Indeed, we encounter the authentication problem Error 401--Unauthorized on the following webservice: https://assystem-test.ifs.cloud:48080/main/ifsapplications/projection/v1/TimeRegistrationHandling.svc Maybe the webservice uses a token to authenticate itself despite the use of a basic IFS Aurena login/password authentication. We used Postman to perform our requests (GET,POST,PUT). Can you please tell us what are the access parameters of this webservice as well as the descriptions of these different methods.
Hi all, In IFS10 UPD4 I have developed an automated process to take an authorised Purchase Requisition, convert it to a Purchase Order, release it and then email the requisitioner with the order details. I would like to attach a PDF copy of the PO (or send one from another Event Action) but have not managed to figure out how to do it. I have an Event configured against the PURCHASE_ORDER_TAB table that triggers when the PO is Released and then an Event Action E-mail to inform the requisitioner, but there are no Event linked attachments available to attach. Does anyone know how to code the printing and emailing functionality? Thanks in advance, Ged Pierce.
Hi, We have started getting an Oracle ‘Bad depth indicator’ error when calling ‘Error_Sys.Record_General’ function from a custom event. We have reported this to IFS support who in turn have raised this with Oracle support. Please see the long response from them below. In short they have concluded that it is intermittent and that they don’t know how to re create it. They have given us a workaround which is to re compile the affected packages. Has anyone else seen this error? “ This was the full error stack we extracted when you were getting the error within purchase order lines. Common environment issue I have noticed and this is commonly seen in internal environments due to the VM shutting down performed during weekends. Error: An error related to managed server will be thrown after reconfiguring/restarting and the ManagedServer could even go to ‘failed_not_restartable' State. Resolution: Navigate to the following config file - C:\IFS\DEV\wls_domain\DEV8\config\config.xml Search for ‘listen-address' Instead of the VM name an IP address will be shown for the managed server. This has to be changed back to the VM name. This can be done to resolve Admin Server failures too. I believe this should reduce a lot of time spent on investigating logs and recreating instances. The above is in addition to checking the lok files in wls_domain.
