WADACO - ScanIt login/logout functionality

Hi

On ScanIt there is no login/logout functionality, this means that it’s not possible to share a device between different warehouse workers. Having several accounts in Account Manager and switching between them is not an option either since it’s not secure enough. 

Already on IFS Applications 9 customers asked for a login/logout function on Scan It. What is the roadmap for the future? Will there be a new app on IFS Applications 10 replacing Scan It which has a login/logout function? Or will you keep Scan It as it is on IFS Applications 10 without any login/logout feature?

Hi,

WADACO Scan It app is a online app and you cannot use it without the internet. Scan it doesn't have an authentication mechanism in APP itself. You need to use IFS Account Manager for that. Therefore Scan it authenticate through the Account Manager.  When using Scan It, you can go to settings and select another user’s account.

Furthermore in APP10, you have Open id log in Screen in Account Manager and Refresh Account option in Account Manager

@SebastianEkman we had the same problem on Apps10.  There is no logout function, or at least not a secure one because any user can choose a different account which has the saved credentials.

We had to workaround by creating additional shared IFS and AD accounts to be used purely for each handheld scan device, one per device.  These are not user specific but that isn’t really an issue for our warehouse staff.  You do lose some accountability but that can’t really be trusted anyway in this scenario.

We were advised a couple months ago by IFS that there was no plan to add a real log out/in feature.

Thanks for the answers! However we cannot use shared user ID’s (device users), switch user or rely on a timeout. We need a login/logout function!

Hi,

The IFS Aurena Scan It app released on Android, for IFS Applications 10 Upd 8, has a log out functionality that I hope will meet your needs. It will also be available in the iOS and Windows apps when they are released.
