I’m searching for a solution for the following E2E flow:
- Quotation is required to offer work with separated time for travel and work because of different duration (e.g. travel: 3 h, work: 6 h)
- Accept the quotation and create a work order with work task; for both time planning it may be necessary to offer different sales prices and/or discounts as the price/discount according the customer’s pricing retrieval suggests
- Schedule the created work order/task and assign it to a resource
- Transfer the work task to the mWO of the assigned technician
- On mWO the technician starts travel and when he arrived at the customer he starts work and returns the task to the backoffice
At the end of the process the work order should be invoiced as quoted (confirmed sales prices/discounts from the quotation).
Additional requirement: no separate work task for travel and work should be necessary because of too much administration (handling of work assignments in the backoffice and for the technician) and possible handling error when reporting.
Preconditions in Resource definitions for mWO:
- Time Type for travel with the related sales part (in basic data of time type)
- Time Type for work with the related sales part (in basic data of time type)
Here are my questions/ideas for this E2E process
Service Quotation for Work Order and Tasks:
- How can I define a quotation with a different time duration for travel and work?
- 2 work tasks: one for travel, one for work => does not fit to the requirement one work task (see above, to much administration)
- One work task with different time types
- => no time type available on Resource demand
- => No different durations for travel and for work
- However: use 2 work tasks: one for travel, on for work
- Accept the service quotation
Work Order/Task
- Now we have two tasks => not according the requirement
- Assign both work tasks to the same resource and enter Time Type for Travel and Work
- Transfer both to the mWO
- On mWO we have two assignments for the same work => if the technician has more than work task to perform, he has for each work 2 tasks => he gets confused about this
- He has to handle both assignments, gets to service reports, ...
- When reporting with Time Types (as setup in Resources) the connections to planning lines does not work=> confirmed sales prices from the quotation are lost => wrong invoicing
- To finish the assignment for travel assignment we get a sales posting not only for travel but also for work time => only posting for travel is expected
- If we would work with only one task, we also lose the connection of reported time for travel and work => it seems like when working with Time Types the connection between reported time and planned time is lost
Conclusion: there are several steps which don’t fit together, most of all when working with Time Types. I don’t have any idea how to implement the above described solution according the restrictions: one work task for separate durations of travel and time, using Time Types, invoicing of the confirmed sales prices/discounts from the quotation. Do you have any idea to realize the above described E2E process? It would be great to discuss possible solutions.
