Hi, we are using V14.5 and have noticed that if a user changes the site on a service or CS order, they will get a pop up asking if they want to change ownership of the installed item.  If they select YES then we have found that it not only changes the site on the Installed Item but also changed the Install and acceptance dates to today’s date, which for us is not desired.

Is there a way to stop the install date from changing, so when the site is changed, the install date stays the same (same behaviour as if you change the site directly on the installed item)?

If not, is there a setting to prevent users from changing the site on an order?

This is for your v14  production installation, right?

I have not looked into this option yet but perhaps you can try disabling Allow Site Replacement on Orders in the Miscellaneous I module?  (Screen below is from v15)

 

I don’t think you can disable the new installation date without a customization to the code.

The option I mentioned above is from v15 so is probably not available to you in v14.  What I have as a description for this is:

 

So it looks like this is supposed to allow you to change site id’s for an installed item in the installed item module and then go through the existing orders to update the site ID.  Not quite what you were looking for though.

There is no way to stop the install date from changing when site is changed.  There is a way to prevent users from changing the site on an order, which is as follows:

Log in with employee who has Customizer set to ON. Open the module and select a record for Customer Support with a status of Open.   Open customizer tool and then select the  field on the Details page and select Properties action.  In the last column of the dialog box for that field, you can set the security type for each employee role to be Disabled.

Thank you for your answers.  Yes, this option is not available in V14.5 Phil.

Jacques, we will try out your suggestion, thanks.  In fact if this works as we hope, it will be a better option than the tick box in V15 because I really like having the option to use for the super users but not for the general users.
